Recruit-Manager Light - A Case Study
Hastings Hotel Group
Hastings Hotels have had an on-line recruitment product operational on their web site for the past year. The impact of having this product available has been tremendous as it now allows the Group to extend their catchment area for potential new employees to a worldwide level.
While the company continues to use the more traditional methods of advertising, Group Human Resources Manager, Patricia Fitzpatrick is increasingly convinced that the shift to on-line recruitment is much more effective in terms of cost reduction as well as being a much more efficient method of recruiting staff. In recent months, the Group has witnessed some significant recruitment milestones as well as being a market leader in this new field of Human Resources. This has included the appointment of the new Executive Chef at the Stormont Hotel, Rodney Brannigan who applied for the position on-line from London!
The on-line recruitment product was provided by e-Link and is called
Recruit Manager LIGHT. e-Link's team worked closely with Hastings
Hotels in the development of the product, tailoring it to suit the
specific requirements of the hotel industry and various trends in
employment demands.
When the on-line jobs were first posted on the Hastings Hotels website back in the summer 2001, only around 10% of applicants were attracted by this method of application, the rest applying by traditional methods. The latest campaign for the prestigious Trainee Management Programme received over half its applications on-line, thus showing the swing in trends and the increasing popularity of the Internet. We have also now saved over two thirds of our advertising budget for the same time last year, mainly due to publishing more of the information on-line instead of in-print.
